The T100 is meant for Fender and Marshall-style Pre's. The Carvin TS100 is designed for Fusion to Shred. The Engls are overpriced on this side of the Atlantic. If you don't know a good tech, get a less old Fryette, Engl or Mesa. If you know a good tech, get an old VHT, Rivera or Mesa. The older VHTs have better transformers than the newer ones. You will have trouble finding a used Synergy. Someone will disagree with me within 5 posts. I'd eliminate the Peavey because I don't like it. They are heavy and built like tanks though. Personally, I'd eliminate the Marshall for these reasons: can overheat and limited tube selection. These are the brands that I'd look at VHT/Fryette, Rivera, Mesa, Randall, Marshall, Engl, Synergy and Peavey. MIDI switching is nice if you want to switch back and forth betwen 6L6 or E元4 into a stereo cab, but not super important. I would look at stereo units, simply because there are more of them in the used market and you'll have a better selection at lower prices. So I would look at 50 and 100 watt power amps. Most metal guys prefer the big bottles, such as 6L6, E元4, 6550, KT88 etc. Honestly speaking there isn't a lot of volume difference between 20 watts and 50 watts, but the tone difference is noticeable when you go from small bottles to big bottles. Is this for home playing, band jams, live small venue, live decent size? There are a lot of variables we need to sort out here. Hello and welcome to the best gear forum on the webz. But at that point you could just go with SS.įinally if you want to consider a solid state power amp, the Tube Works Moslvave is a great sounding power amp. Not the best for rock guitar unless you are using a modeler and need a complete clean/flat tone. The newer TS100 (chrome panel) is almost more like an audiophile power amp. The older version T100 (black panel) sounded really good. They tend to be a bit more expensive than the others mentioned above.Ĭarvin also made a few power amps. Rivera also makes some killer power amps, they're a bit hard to find these days and really big and heavy but they do sound amazing.Īnd of course, there is VHT/Fryette. You can find them for $200-300 so that's a plus. I don't think they're at the level of the Marshall and Mesa mentioned above, but they sound really good and they are virtually indestructible. On the cheaper side, The Peavey Classic series (50/50, 60, 60/60, 120, 120/120) are all great sounding power amps. It also works extremely well with the MP1 for modern metal tones. It's only 2 rack spaces and it packs a serious punch. With the MP-1, it's like having a programmable hot-rodded 800.įor 6L6 amps, I like the Mesa 2:90. But it's probably my all-time favorite power amp. The downsides are it's huge (4 rack spaces), super heavy and sort of hard to find these days. It sounds amazing and packs a ton of punch. It's probably the best E元4 power amp I've tried, it's like the power section of the 2204 (JCM800) x2. If you want a Marshall tone/vibe, I'd suggest you try to track down a Marshall 9005. IMHO it will depend on the type of tone you are trying to get. Looking forwards to hearing your opinions on Power Amps. Most of my guitars are equipped with EMG 85 but I use other pickups as well. The idea of being able to swap in a new preamps is very appealing to me. My Framus Cobra does a good job with that but the Line Level Parallel effects loop can be limiting, especially regarding older effects without a killdry and I like to have some new sounds in my arsental. I tend to lean in the direction of high gain sounds, splitting myself between a classic rock sound to more of a classical metal sound (Andy Larocque, Randy Rhoads, etc). I'd love to hear some opinions regarding direction to take. I've seen ENGL make a 20 watt tube power amp that sounds amazing in youtube demos but it is quite an investment. At a glance, there aren't alot of options but going through reverb there are alot of used units like the mesa boogie 295 or 50/50. That said, I really have no experience with Tube Power Amps. Maybe even pickup a used Mesa Boogie Studio for nostalgia sack. ![]() Yes, I bought into the whole mosfets sound like tube garbage when I was a teenage.Īnyway, I'd really like to build up a nice rack setup.I've got a few preamps in mind including an old ADA MP1 (I've wanted one of these for 30 years) plus a few I own and haven't touch in years like a rocktron chameleon and some old rack effects like alesis quadraverb etc. Despite living through the height of the rack craze The only rack setup I ever had was simple & brief (A Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp paired with pretty crappy sounding Tubeworks Mosvalve power amp). My first post here! I've been playing since the late 80's (Started when I was 13) and I've been through all sorts of equipment (Ampeg Reverbarocket, Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp, Metaltronix M1000, various fender combos, Framus Cobra, etc).

![]() The main game is a good size on its own, but now you’re also seeing it running at (an albeit inconsistent) 60fps, and the improved visuals bring the dark-lit streets to life like never before. You can also partake of various side activities like street races or helping out random strangers with small favours.Īs with many Definitive Editions, you’re getting a good deal here, especially with the DLC thrown in. Combat is combo and counter-based, like a more arcadey Batman: Arkham Asylum, with retaliatory strikes and heavy-hitting combos interspersed with some truly mean environmental attacks (ram a guy’s head into a spinning fan for extra gore points). Sleeping Dogs uses the GTA template ably to allow you to commit questionable acts in a open environment, helping people out or beating them down as you work your way up the proverbial food chain. Which is all well and good and makes for a compelling, well acted plot, but what it ultimately amounts to (and this is not a criticism) is shooting people, beating up thugs and driving stolen cars ridiculously fast. As the story gathers pace and it becomes harder for him to trust anyone or even keep his own secret quiet, Shen struggles to decide where his true loyalties lie. Sleeping Dogs tells the story of Wei Shen, a former low-level Triad player turned LA cop turned undercover mole, who has relocated to his hometown in an effort to infiltrate his old gang, the Sun On Yee.īacked up by a handful of supporting characters voiced by, among others, Tom Wilkinson, Emma Stone, and Lucy Liu, Shen is a fairly textbook undercover hero, caught halfway between cop and criminal and unsure of which path suits him best. Rather than resurrect that under-performing franchise, United Front simply took the basic framework and setting and added as much cool as possible while completely reworking it. As with many good last-gen games, Sleeping Dogs is now receiving the Definitive Edition treatment as United Front port it over to PS4 and XBO along with all 27 (count them) pieces of DLC, from the zombie infested Nightmare in Northpoint, to various costume and weapon packs.įor those who missed the original release, Sleeping Dogs is essentially a rebuilt True Crime: Streets of Hong Kong. ![]() It was released in a comfortable lull, and a combination of high production values and effortless playability outweighed the various graphical glitches and performance issues that threatened to hold it back. It’s no surprise that Sleeping Dogs proved so popular. United Front know this, which is why Sleeping Dogs takes almost no risks with its storytelling but still manages to deliver a thoroughly engrossing and enjoyable experience. There’s something comforting about a well worn plot, about knowing where a narrative is going before it gets there. “I bet he’s gonna die next,” you sneer, as your other half silently weighs the pros and cons of your relationship in their head.īut part of the reason such stories are so successful and watchable is that we have become accustomed to them. “Here comes the ‘difficult moral choice'”, you remark glibly, as the hero is forced to choose between his brother cops and the criminal family he has come to respect. ![]() “He’s a bad guy,” you say, as the veteran actor with the “and…” billing is introduced as either the hero’s mentor, superior or weirdly older friend. The whole “undercover cop gets in too deep” storyline has been done a million times in both games and movies, to the point where it’s hard to watch a hardboiled detective story unfold without rolling your eyes and facetiously predicting the plot. "Singing Articulation" is explained as "vocal expressions" such as vibrato and vocal fragments necessary for singing. The Vocaloid synthesis technology was initially called "Frequency-domain Singing Articulation Splicing and Shaping" (周波数ドメイン歌唱アーティキュレーション接続法 Shūhasū-domain Kashō Articulation Setsuzoku-hō ?), although Yamaha no longer uses this name on its websites. In singing synthesis, the system produces realistic voices by adding information of vocal expressions like vibrato to score information. The Vocaloid singing synthesizer technology is categorized as concatenative synthesis, which splices and processes vocal fragments extracted from human singing voices in the frequency domain. Artists such as Mike Oldfield have also used Vocaloids within their work for back up singer vocals and sound samples. Each Vocaloid is sold as "a singer in a box" designed to act as a replacement for an actual singer. ![]() It's not their fault, though they're the victims of FIFA Street's outfield players' combo system. They rarely show much interest in the ball until it's inside their own six-yard box or is flying toward the goal, and although they're capable of making quite miraculous saves a lot of the time, they'll often concede goals that are so weak that they barely qualify as shots on target. The goalkeepers, we're sorry to report, are dumber still. You'll learn to deal with it by quickly assuming control of another player and sending him in for the tackle, but the fact that a player you're in control of can effectively be taken from you before you even have a chance to try to gain possession of the ball with him is frustrating nonetheless. The players' behavior is made all the more frustrating by the fact that even when you're controlling one of them (as indicated by a red icon at the player's feet), you'll often be relieved of command (as indicated when the red icon turns gray) so that said player can participate in what is effectively a two-man animation of your opponent making a monkey out of you. ![]() They're slow to move forward when their team is on the attack, they rarely bother to chase back and defend their goal when they lose possession of the ball, and, worst of all, they frequently stand still with their legs wide open just so that opposing players can perform the most humiliating of all "beats" on them, the nutmeg. Though the players in FIFA Street are all able to perform fancy tricks at the push of a button or two, they can basically be divided up into two categories: dumb and dumber. The players in FIFA Street aren't nearly as clever as they look. The lack of stoppages makes for an exciting and fast-paced game at times, which is unfortunately a lot more than can be said for the players' artificial intelligence. ![]() Since the pitches are all enclosed and there's no referee, the only time there's any kind of pause in the play is when a goal is scored, at which point the unfortunate goalkeeper will get the ball out of his net (assuming that he has one on the pitch in question) and roll the ball out to one of his teammates to get the game under way again. Matches are played either to a time limit (including the traditional halftime swapping of ends) or until one team scores a predetermined number of goals, the default setting being five (most matches last anywhere from two to 10 minutes). Your player will be pretty useless at this point, but that will change once you start progressing through the career mode and earning more skill bills.įIFA Street's version of soccer is a four-on-four game played on pitches that are, predictably, daubed in graffiti and that really don't look like anywhere you'd want to be alone after dark. Once you've settled on your custom player's physical appearance, you'll be allocated 2000 "skill bills" (FIFA Street's currency) to spend on upgrading his attributes, which include speed, shot power, shot accuracy, tricks, and tackling. The customization options are somewhat limited, but there's no reason you shouldn't be able to create a player who bears at least a passing resemblance to you if that's your goal. The first time you play FIFA Street you'll be encouraged to create a custom player for use in friendly games and in the "rule the street" career mode. One of the first things you'll want to do is create a custom player for yourself. The result? FIFA Street is a soccer game that boasts far more style than substance and has more in common with the FIFA games of old than it does with FIFA Soccer 2005. The game they're playing, on the other hand, is straight out of a Nike commercial, and it places as much emphasis on humiliating your opponents with flashy moves as it does on scoring goals. Like its NBA and NFL counterparts, FIFA Street offers a highly stylized, over-the-top version of the sport on which it's based and sees soccer's most famous players competing in locations far less glamorous than the stadiums that they're accustomed to. Hot on the heels of NBA Street V3, which was released earlier this month, comes FIFA Street-EA Sports Big's first attempt at applying its successful "Street" formula to the most popular sport in the world. ![]() can now undo first sculpting stroke without exiting Sculpt tool (finally!).updated a certified publisher info in the Windows installer.fixed display of EULA and the About Meshmixer text.changed Preferences shortcut key to Alt-T in Windows, to match the documentation. ![]()
